SO...Here's the scoop =)
Because my birthday AND Valentines Day were last week, and neither of us had free time until the weekend,we decided to do a combined date on Saturday. All throughout the week,he kept saying to me (and everyone else) how he had no idea what he was going to plan for us to do. (**Side note: In the middle of the week,I read a text from one of his friends that was asking him if I knew what was coming, and like when and where he was going to propose. When I eventually confessed I saw it,he sneakily blew it off by saying something along the lines of,"Oh yeah,I haven't answered him back yet.All I can say is she doesn't know, but neither do I...") Anyway,so he asked me questions on Friday and Saturday like: What's your favorite cereal? What's your favorite place to go around here.He had told me that he wanted to go to DC after dinner, but then decided we wouldn't have enough time(He had hoped to propose in front of the Capital Building).I knew he was trying to make it romantic,so I dressed up for our date. When he picked me up though,he wasn't really dressed up at all, which kind of disappointed me.Though I had sort of expected it,I was still hoping he might change or something.Well,on the way to our spot,I was sitting there thinking to myself "I wish Brian would surprise me more often, like with this date...*sigh*" LOL. So we get to the place he picked, which is one that I've mentioned to him before and due to the 40mph winds,we had to have our surprise cereal dinner by candlelight in the car...Eventually,we braved the wind and cold to go out on the rickety looking gazebo over the pond to just enjoy each other and .So once we got to the gazebo,he goes to get something out of his pocket. My thoughts get all excited, unfortunately it was JUST his iPod.Apparently he had even seen the bit of disappointment on my face...So then we dance to "Hero" by Enrique Iglesias, talked about the ducks there, and tried to keep my skirt from blowing up in the wind.Lol.Another funny thing is that while we were dancing,I had the thought at one point,"All the cars are passing by,and probably think they might see a proposal.Little do they know, that ain't going to happen any time soon..." Next thing I know, something distracts me.I look away for a second and before I know it,Brian has stopped the music, gotten down on one knee, and has a ring out!I was beyond shocked! It just didn't seem real.Brian's asked me several times in the last few months,if I would marry him.But this time he actually had a ring and everything...Of course I said YES,and from that point on,I have had a smile plastered to my face.It still doesn't seem real!I'll look at the ring on my finger, and am still in disbelief that a man picked me for eternity, picked out and bought me actual diamonds, and loves/cares about/respects me that much.I can't imagine spending my life with anyone else. He's what has made every struggle worth getting through, and gives me the energy and drive to keep fighting for the happiness I know we can share together. =)
